May I have this Dance

So.....it's been a while since I've submitted anything, eh?
Much less in colour, to boot.
Well, here I am, with something new to add to the table. Huzzah.


So, here we have Kimi in a rather stunning ballroom gown, inviting someone to come dance with her. I've decided to let her hair down for this one....long story short, I don't believe having the 'six pronged pineapple of doom' that usually defines Kimi's hairstyle would've been appropriate for this one. A shame, too, since that's one of my favorite things to draw about Kimi. Her hair. Yup.

So, what inspired this one, you may ask?
Well, just recently, my cousin got married, and my father snapped some photos from the reception (about 400+ of them). After having a look through some of the pictures (and learning that I look damn good in a tux), I decided to tinker around and draw something. The tiara that Kimi's wearing was inspired by the one my cousin wore at her wedding (although it's not as pink as this one is here.) The dress was thought up entirely by me, but DAMN. Deciding on a colour scheme was like trying to do a crossword in the Beijing Times with a -pen-. I spent a full night coming up with the colour scheme.

Some tidbits about this picture:

- This is actually a remake of not one, but two past fanart pieces that I did before. Needless to say, I felt that they needed a serious overhaul, so, why not kill two birds with one stone, eh?

- I originally wasn't going to colour this one. The detailing in the hair stirred my curiousity in what it would look like in colour, though, so I took a shot and coloured it.

- Believe it or not, the background was done entirely by me. I did some looking up in some Photoshop tutorials about how I could possibly come up with a background for this, and I came across one that allowed you to create realistic looking roses using a few brush tools and layers. I only wish I'd have thought about doing a background for this before I started, though, because it certainly would have looked a lot more impressive.

- I've upped Kimi's age for this one, to give the impression that she's 'all grown up' now (no pun intended ) and going to her first dance. Her parents must be so proud.
